omy.sg 扛上了 xin.sg

你怎么说?omy.sg比较对味,还是xin.sg比较适合你?

  2. Please lah! Repeatin what mediacorp have shown in TV, isn’t a sincere way. Today xin.sg is all about Wan Zi Liang, don’t they have better news than this?

  3. Haiyo, omy where got FOLLOW xin.sg’s footsteps?

omy is a billingual website for the Chinese-inclined reader while xin.sg’s management is adamant about not publishing English on the site. Young people see already also sian, might as well go and watch tv if they are gian for the videos, right.

But the recent Wan Ziliang coverage – xin.sg broke news fastest lor, and has access to all the episodes of Golden Pillow.

Not that I’m particularly interested in Mr Fatso Wan.

  4. OH. haven’t finished what I wanted to say.

Omy is definitely NOT following xin.sg’s footsteps as they are based on a completely different (and better) business model.

Don’t think they even bother to view xin.sg as competitor lorh, xin.sg’s stats are not that fantas what.

  5. I do not know much about the business model but as a web designer I see alot of similarities between xin.sg and omy.sg.

    1. Both inclined towards Web 2.0. Emphasize more on user feedback, user discussion and user submission compared to traditional news website.

    2. Big and clear image headlines. More attractive than traditional news source which is heavily loaded with text data.

    3. Video streaming news reporting. Which can be hardly seen locally before these two websites.

Omy.sg has a reference to learn from, learn from its mistakes and improve from it. It is therefore not too hard for it to excel in terms of layout (neater), contents (addition: forum, games) etc. Ultimately, each of their core competency counts. Obviously SPH will have more global, world news sources while Xin.sg can provide fast and professional video reporting..

Xin.sg can always improve! Make the scripts more readable..layout can be improved..(eg. students’ work and artists’ blog is really taking a very very prominent location of main page!)..discussion speed.(need one day verification to see my post..) etc. The only constant is change, no one will then lose.

  6. Frankly speaking, i like xin’s page layout – clean and easy to navigate whereas i have problem navigating omy – have to click thru so many links and ended up on a blank page (many of the blogs are still blank).

However, xin also gives me a headache in that everytime i finished viewing a video and try to close it, my browser stops responding and i have to quit.

    cheers!

  7. omy.sg copy some of the design concept from website and never give any credit back. They should have placed a link back example Site design is imspire by so and so. The designer take all the credit not shame.

  10. Hao,

Intro some news about WCG this year at seattle… promote healty gaming culture… as singapore supports the WCG asia.

    thanks,

    Regards

  11. haha, I felt that OMY was a English version of STOMP! Xin.sg is very entertainment driven while OMY is a more broad-based portal. Business model is indeed slightly different and OMY seems to be a complement/friendly competitor to STOMP than Xin.sg
